Divide by 6
This topic teaches you to divide numbers by 6 in your head. There are different ways you can divide by 6. The easiest way is if you know your times tables - then you can say the 6 times table in your head until you reach the number. Another method is to count up in steps of 6 to the number you have been asked to divide.
For example, if you need to divide 24 by 6, you can count 6, 12, 18, 24 and see that the answer is 4. That is because:
6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 24
and
4 x 6 = 24
so
24 ÷ 6 = 4
This topic asks you to work out divisions by 6 for numbers from 6 to 600.
